Bio

I am the Research Director for Biomedical Material Sciences at Imperial College London. I also hold a part-time appointment as Professor at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.  My group has published over 350 peer-reviewed publications and are very active in the translation of innovations to impact patient care through spinouts, industrial partnerships and social venture routes. I am Fellow of 8 UK Societies including the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering, and am a Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering. I have received over 30 prestigious international awards. I am a passionate advocate for the democratisation of medicine and accessibility of healthcare to all.
